THE DISEASE OF ADDICTION
•One in ten people in New London County, over the age of 12, struggles with addiction - nearly 30 million people nationwide. We firmly believe these statistics are VERY conservative! There were over 1000 opioid related deaths in 2017 in CT alone!! In honor of those are trying so hard to stay in active recovery, and in memory of all our loved ones for whom it is too late, TheCharityChallenge.net is raising money for a nonprofit organization who is committed to challenging the revolving door system of recovery in the U.S. and who will offer a very different and holistic alternative to treatment that will END the current vicious cycle of relapse and recidivism. TheCharityChallenge.net's recipient organization: TriCircle, Inc. was established in CT, and is dedicated to creating real, long-term solutions. In its full implementation, it will offer a residential, comprehensive, individualized, uninterrupted continuum of care with treatment options for participants with co-occurring mental health issues! Safe Futures, is a place where lives are saved, hope is restored, and the future is changed for those impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault in southeastern Connecticut. Today, Safe Futures operates two 24-hour hotlines, an emergency shelter, and a transitional living program for families working to rebuild lives shattered by domestic violence or sexual assault. Safe Futures also provides counseling and advocacy, case management, court advocacy, support groups, and educational programs for schools and community groups.
